Frequently asked questions
For any additional questions, feel free to call me at 516-724-0135.
How often should I receive treatments?
I typically recommend that you receive a treatment 1-2 times a week for a few weeks until the treatments begin to "hold" and you feel better on a daily basis. They can then be spaced out until you no longer need regular treatments.
When will I start to feel better?
Everyone responds differently to acupuncture, as with any medical treatment. Generally, the more severe the condition and the longer you've had it, the greater the number of sessions you'll most likely need in order to feel an improvement and stay that way.
However, keep in mind that there are just as many people who respond to the treatments very quickly.

Do the needles hurt?
No! There's a big difference between the needles used by your doctor and the ones used for acupuncture. Acupuncture needles are not used to inject anything, which means they're solid and very thin... about as thin as a strand of hair.
The needles I use in my practice are very thin and virtually painless. Upon insertion, you may feel a tiny pinch. This is momentary and is then followed by a general feeling of relaxation.
I always use brand new, individually sealed and sterile needles. They are single-use needles and NEVER used on another patient.

Do you accept health insurance?
Yes, I am a provider of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare and NYSHIP.
Please contact your insurance carrier prior to scheduling to verify that your plan includes acupuncture benefits.

What should I wear to my treatment?
If possible, try to wear loose, comfortable clothing and avoid anything that's too constricting.
Is there anything else I should know?
It's best not to arrive excessively hungry or fatigued. I suggest that you eat lightly 1-2 hours before arriving.
Also, please do not drink any highly caffeinated or alcoholic beverages prior to your treatment.
