If you have any questions please scroll through the list of
frequently asked questions below. If you do not see what
you are looking for, feel free to call me at 516-724-0135.
Do you accept health insurance?
Please contact your insurance provider to determine if your specific plan has acupuncture benefits. A couple of important questions to ask are:
- Does my acupuncturist need to be an M.D.?
- Does my plan cover my specific condition?
- How many visits am I allowed?
How often should I receive treatments?
I usually recommend patients receive treatment 1-2 times
a week for a few weeks until the treatments begin to "hold"
and you feel better on a daily basis. The treatments can then
be spaced out until you no longer need regular treatments.
How soon until I start feeling better?
Everyone responds differently to acupuncture, just like with
any medical treatment. Generally, the more severe the condition is and the longer you have had it, the more sessions you will most likely need in order to feel an improvement and stay that way.
Do the needles hurt?
NO! There is a big difference between the needles used by
your doctor and acupuncture needles. Acupuncture needles
are not used to inject anything so they are solid and much
thinner, about as thin as a strand of hair.
The needles I use in my practice are very thin and virtually
painless. Upon insertion, you may feel a tiny pinch. This feeling is momentary and then you will have a general feeling of relaxation. Most people doze off and take a nap for the rest
of the session, which is about 25 minutes.
Are the needles safe?
Yes. I always use brand new, individually sealed and sterile
needles. They are single-use needles and NEVER used on
another patient.
What can acupuncture treat?
Please see the "Conditions Treated" page for a complete list. If you have questions about something you do not see listed, please call for more information.
What should I wear to my treatment?
It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Do not wear anything that is too constricting.
Is there anything else I should know before
arriving for my session?
It is best not to arrive excessively hungry or fatigued. I suggest
that you eat lightly 1-2 hours before arriving. Also, please do
not drink any highly caffeinated or alcoholic beverages prior to your treatment.
